I would have to say that my most memorable experience obtaining an autograph was when I obtained Emmitt Smith’s autograph during the Dallas Cowboys 2002 Training Camp in San Antonio, Tx.
It was a Saturday morning practice and as you may imagine, the place was packed. I wasn’t really expecting to get any good autographs so I hadn’t bothered taking a mini helmet, cards or anything nice for the players to autograph. The only thing I had with me was a notebook. As the practice was about to end, I quickly went down the stairs and managed to get a spot on the first set of steps. This was at about the 20 yard line on the right side of the field. I remember getting really excited and thinking this was a good spot. The then players broke huddle and I saw them scramble to different parts of the field. The next thing I know is I turned to look down the 20 yard line and I saw Emmitt jogging straight towards me. He gets right in front of me and puts his hand out. At this point, I’m in aw and for a split second, I froze not really sure if what I was seeing was real. I handed him my notebook and he autographed it. I was in total shock! I turned to my wife who was several rows behind me and I put the folder up in the air to show her the autograph. The rest of that morning, I couldn’t stop smiling and I thought I was the luckiest person on earth.
This is only half of the story.
I also attended the afternoon practice. Again, I’m thinking I have no chance of getting some good autographs. I sat in the same area as that morning. As the practice was about to end, I make a dash for the same spot where I stood in the morning practice. Same thing, players broke huddle and they go in all directions. Well, wouldn’t you believe it? I turn to look directly in front of me here comes Emmitt again. He is making a B-line towards me. This time, he signs for a couple of Fans to my left and then I handed him the same notebook and he autographed it again. I couldn’t believe it. I am thinking, how was I so lucky?
This turned out to be a great weekend and an experience I will never forget. I was Lucky enough to get Emmitt Smith’s autograph not once, but twice in one day. Awesome!!!

This is what My WIFE did with one of Emmitt's autographs. She designed the layout and put it all together in this box frame that she purchased.
